Any Reason Beyond Theft to Not Bring Enough Cash?

I'll be traveling for 2 weeks in Morocco on an escorted tour and probably won't be spending more than $400 (USD) on meals, tips and sundries.

I'll be met at the airport by the tour guide. I'm thinking that it makes sense to bring $300 cash with me, and exchange it for dirhams at the airport, avoiding the fees (around $15) associated with using a debit card at an ATM. (I'll bring a debit card and credit card with me, too, for back-up). Is there a flaw to this plan, other than the risk of getting the cash stolen on the way from the airport to the hotel safe?

I've read the very helpful Banks & Money essay, to be found in the upper right corner, and do not recall seeing this question specifically addressed.

Thank you.

There is always a danger of carrying cash with you wherever you travel to and especial care obviously needed in crowded areas. The level of pickpocketing in Morocco is low compared to many other countries but as you are obviously aware of potential risks you will exercise due caution.

US$ 300 is not a lot of cash (relatively speaking that is!) and your back up plan of bringing debit/credit cards in the case of emergencies/unforeseen considerations is eminently sensible. Have great trip!
