For anyone contemplating what to see while in Morocco, I highly recommend a couple of nights camping in the Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga. We are a family with two teens. We had a difficult time choosing what do do with our 9 day trip to Morocco, and this cmaping experience was hands down our favorite memory of Morocco. The better outfits inlcude everything in their price. That means camel trekking, riding over the dunes in a 4x4 or quad bike, sand sledding, and more. At night, the Berbers play their drums by the fire and you can gaze at the millions of stars or walk in the dunes under the moon. The cost inlcudes all food and drinks, as well as a visit to a local auberge for swimming during the hottest part of the day. We stayed at Ali and Sara's Desert Palace, but there are a multitude of companies to choose from. We also looked into the possibility of going to Erg Chigaga, where you can do very similar activities. Erg Chigaga is closer to Marrakech. It is a schlep to get out to the desert, but it is worth it. Seeing the beautiful desert of Morocco is a really amazing sight that every world traveler should experience.
