Negotiate tour price & baby at desert camp?

I've just received a few quotes from Moroccan tour operators. Is it acceptable to negotiate the quoted price?

Also, is an overnight at desert camp suitable for 10 month old baby?

Thank you.

No, it is not, I would never take 10 month old baby to sand dunes to the camp. To some accommodation on the edge of sand dunes yes, but not inside sand dunes.

Where you want to go and for how long you want to make your desert trip?

If to Erg Chigaga then I recommend you to stay in M'Hamid, not go to sand dunes, not with the baby. It is far, 2 hours by 4x4x on the piste so it is a little bumpy also.

If to Erg Chebbi then it is OK, the road is paved until sand dunes. Unfortunately, but comfortable it is.

And probably you already read that we recommend at least 4 days for such trip regardless you go to Chigaga or Chebbi.

And at what time of year do you wish to travel? I agree with Khamlia about taking an infant into these regions for various paediatric reasons, underdeveloped immune systems and susceptibility to heatstroke being just two of them.

Thank you for all your answers.

The travel agent is suggesting 4x4 to Chebi. How bumpy or dangerous is it over the sandune?

This is what he put Merzouga - Todra Gorge -Dades Gorge

At Chebi stay at http://www.bivouaccleededesert.com/

Is it any safer or still too dangerous?

What you mean? Want you go inside sand dunes with 4x4 instead by camel, or? And stay overnight there in some camp? If yes, it can be quite much bumpy and dangerous also, the car can overturning for example, it happened more than one times. I would not do it with one baby on board in any case.

But if you go to Erg Chebbi, the road is paved so you not need 4x4 at all.

Unfortunately I did not see what David wrote, but can not imagine that he would write something bad so it was probably quite unnecessary to remove his post.
