Travelling next week for a short break We need to know the best way to go with currency.

What is the best way to tip?

Also is it best to change £'s in the hotel to local currency.

Hi,

Have a look in the top questions box on the right of the page for currency questions. Only tip in Moroccan Dirhams.

Basey:

Don't change your money until you get to Agadir Massira airport. As soon as you clear passport control, you will find yourself in the luggage claim area. In there you will see a bureau of change. Change an initial sum of about £40 to £50 to get you going for a couple of days. After that, there are many places to change your currency in Agadir town itself. Best to change in a bank rather than hotel. But it shouldn't make any big diffrence as the exchange rate is more or less the same wherever you go. It is set by the Government.

Right now you should get about 12.50 dirhams for £1.

Tipping for services is entirely up to you. As a guide 10 dirhams (0.90 pence) is about the norm.

Cheers

About 90 pence (Sterling), not 0.90 pence. (0.9 being a tenth less than a penny!)

Official exchange rate (ie banks) is currently 13.6 dirhams to £1.

I have just returned from agadir and the exchange rate is in the region of 13.2 dirhams to the pound. The exchange rate does vary between banks. It is no longer a fixed rate..........

Hi,

The exchange rate is fixed but changes slightly on a daily basis not from bank to bank on the same day.
