What is the train journey from Fez to Marrakesh like?

I know it's long ;o)

But is it interesting, if you get a window seat?

could you class it as part of the holiday experience? Or is it just something you have to do and write off the day?

Not particularly interesting, but pleasant enough. Just seeing some of the farming techniques in the countryside sets you back 1000 years! Have a good book with you.

Tourists that are coming to Fes by train should be aware of the latest scam involving apparently well-heeled, well-educated "teachers" or "employees in the Ministry of Tourism (they are neither). They are very fluent in English and a lot of tall tales are spun but ultimately they may try to steer you away from your pre-booked accommodation (claiming it's a dangerous neighborhood, etc.) in order to collect a commision by taking you to another hotel/Riad, and they try to set you up with guides who will take you on "fleecing" shopping visits of the medina. The latest scam seems to be that they work in tandem, claiming not to know each other. Don't give them the time of day!
