Ifrane--interesting?

We will have 5 nights in Fes. Is Ifrane worth a visit?

How about Meknes and Volubis?

Thank you

From Fez you can easily get to Meknes and Volubilis. Most hotels can arrange for a private taxi to take you and bring you back. You can do both in a day. I think the going rate for a private taxi is 800 dirhams.

Ifrane is interesting depending on what you're looking for. It's not an ancient, historical city like Fez, Meknes, or Volubilis was. It's a quaint town and very scenic with trees everywhere. There's not much to do but it is a nice place to walk around. From the center of town, called 'le centre' you can walk to the man-made lake which is a 5-minute walk or to the Ain Vittel spring, which is about a 15-20 minute walk. Ifrane is also a great place to do small day hikes in the forest but you wouldn't be able to find these on your own. There is a tourist office also in the center that might be able to arrange a guide for you if you wanted.

Ifrane isn't really worth a visit, but the surrounding cedar forests with their barbary monkeys, and the village of Azrou is what makes going thru Ifrane worthwhile. Nearby Sefrou is interesting as well and worth a visit. Volubilis is a must.

We only did a drive through stop en route to Merzouga, but found the temp to be wonderful and the scenery beautiful. I think it,s worth it if you feel the need to see green and trees. Make sure you take a photo with the lion (you will understand if you go).
