Fez: Guaranteed Harrassment?

I'm going to Morocco for a couple of weeks and intend to spend a couple of days in Fez. However, having read some of the reports of the harassment from locals trying to be guides etc, I find myself much less keen to include it. I am traveling with my boyfriend so some protection there but I wanted some honest opinions about just how aggressive it can get.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I am in Fez right now. I have travelled two weeks in Morocco and it was great, but I can't say I like Fez very much. I am wearing a long jeans and a T-shirt but men really stare (and not with a friendly face) and one guy kept jelling that I was a hooker (in French). My arms aren't covered, but many women (even locals) wear shirts with short sleeves, so I don't know. Tomorrow I will wear long sleeves. . .

Thank you for sharing this; let's see how does it work with long sleeves!

I've walked around all day with long sleeves. People still stare (have they never seen a foreigner in Fes?), but nobody called me a prostitute anymore so that was an improvement :-). All in all I think Fes just isn't worth the trouble. There's nothing there that you can't find in Marrakech. We took a guide and you have seen all the sights in a day. Including the tanneries, and a couple of shops. I can't believe that I spent 7 hours on a train (from Marrakech) for that...Just skip Fes, go to Marrakech and have fun.
