Atlas Mtn/Camel Trek

We would like to do the Atlas Mtns and take in the Kasbah's

berber villages, etc. As well as doing a short camel trek.

Three of us will be traveling in mid March. I have heard some of

the camel treks are better than others. Nice tents, good food,

even basins brought into the desert for washing. Does anybody

know the name of this tour and how to contact them?

I don't know if we should rent a car and drive to Zagora to explore

the Atlas Mtn area and then do a camel safari .... or just get

someone to pick us up from the hotel and let them tour us.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks!

you can always rent a car and drive on your own up to Zagora, some 400 kilometers away. Stop In ourzazate( half way) for lunch and carry on. once in Zagora use alocal agnet for camel ride and night in a tent. Or if you don't feel like driving long distances on soem impressive mountain roads hire a car and his driver. It should cost you a little more but then comfort comes with a price

Hi and thank you for your reply.

I agree with your comments. We have driven in many different

countries and in many different situations ... as I love to stop

and really get a feel of the area. My first impulse is to rent a car

and drive it, but I would really like to book the camel trek

before leaving. Do you know of an exceptional one leaving from

Zagora and how to contact them?

Thanks for your assistance, really appreciate it!

I just answered your direct message, so check yours. But wanted to mention that if you have the time, I suggest you head to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes as opposed to Zagora. While I have not been to Zagora, common wisdom seems to be that the Erg Chebbi dunes are much more spectacular than the ones in Zagora. They are further away so require a two day drive to get there. We stopped overnight in Ouazarzate on the way.
