Atlas mountain excursion with a baby.

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can give me some information on taking a day trip to the Atlas mountains to see the Berber villages.

We have a 13yr 10yr old and 11month old baby, we plan to take a baby carrier with us, but is it considered safe?

Are there routes available where it's seen mainly by car for instance?

Highly appreciate any feed back! Thank you very much.

The tarmac road now continues past Imlil, which is the 'trail head village' for trekking. Carry on up the hill through Imlil and at the fork turn left, going past a massive boulder. Continue on for another five km or so to the Tizi n'Tamatert where you can stop for a tea in the shack at the top. The road carries on and you can eventually park up and walk over to some of the smaller villages.

Is it safe? What you are concerned about?

If you want your child to travel in a car seat be sure to arrange this (don't expect it to be provided as standard). It is possible to walk around with a baby. Don't expect to find nappy changing facilities - plan accordingly.

Thank you, by safe I meant, would it be to rocky or too steep a climb to take a baby along.

Could you recommend a reliable tour guide?

Thanks again.

Thank you, we are taking our own car seat, and thanks for the baby changing tip! Could you also recommend a reliable tour guide?

Have a look at the video here which was shot on the route I refer to above before the piste was tarmaced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAPIjbEAVX0

And another here at the tea shop in more recent times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z48E7mNPsDg
