We didn't stay at BanyanTree but enjoyed our days down at Anse Intendance (the beach it is on). It looked absolutely wonderful. The beach is beautiful that the Banyan Tree is positioned on and it is the only hotel facing the beach. The public has access to the opposite end of the beach to the Banyan Tree where there is a small car park. The time we were at the beach the waves were big maybe 1 metre and the sand was nice and clean sand.. There isn't a lot of things in the immediate area of Banyan Tree however it is certainly a nice and quiet beach. If you will hire a car at least for a day (depending on your time on Mahe) it is worth a drive around the island to explore the other areas. It is a diverse island and larger than the others. Our car hire was 30 euro for the day.

I would agree about hiring a car too.

We hired a little mini moke open top car. It was good fun, mahe isnt big, but it was great fun exploring and ending up in dead ends, finding secluded bays and waving up to the locals, stopping off where you wanted.
