A week in August

Hi all,

We're looking to spend a week in Seychelles during August.

We're quite active travelers and we would like to see as much as we can. I thought about a little itinerary:

Mahe Island: 2 nights

Praslin Island: 3 nights

La Digue Island: 2 nights

Is it doable? We'd be flying in and out of Mahe. How do we get to the other islands?

Regarding accommodation, is it easy to book on the day? So that we can have a more flexible schedule?

Thanks!

Hi,

Since you are active travellers it is doable but you will lose some time travelling between islands. During August the ocean is very rough so I advise you to take the domestic flight to get to Praslin. From Praslin to La Digue there is a 15-20 mins ferry trip which is the only reasonable price way to get to La Digue. August is part of high season so I advise you to start booking your accomodation otherwise you will ruin your holiday searching for a free room when you get to Seychelles.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think it's worth it to visit all 3 places or staying in Mahe will be better?

Thanks

Hello!

Mahe is a very nice place to spend your holiday, BUT Praslin and La Digue are even more beautiful and stunning with most amazing beaches in the world. All three islands worth visit!

HI,

I would say a split between Mahe and La Digue with daytrips to Praslin might be the best combination. Though Seychelles is so beautiful that you cannot make a mistake in choice anyway.

How rough is the sea during August?

Also, is there any other way of going from La Digue to Mahe than the ferry?

Thanks

Hello!

I am sorry, but unfortunatly the sea in August is very rough and the currents are strong. From Mahe to Praslin you can take the plane. From Praslin to Mahe you can take the helicopter or the boat.

The helicopter rates are a bit high for our budget unfortunately.

So basically no one travels by sea during August?

I used to work on cruise ships so I wonder what is rough for you!

Hi again!

Some people are travelling on boat also during August, but the waves on the sea can be high, and some people have seasick. I have never been to Seychelles in August, but I heard that from other travellers. But if you are working on ship I think that you won't have much problems :)

Sorry, my english is not the best.
