S.A. to Madagascar tips

Greetings!

I will be flying into Johannesburg on March 19th - April 24th and am hoping on taking a short trip to Madagascar (around 5 days). I've looked into travel b/w SA and Madagascar and have only found expensive flights and limited information about traveling by boat.

Do you have any advice on alternative travel to Madagascar that is budget friendly and safe?

Thank you!

I visited Madagascar from SA for a holiday 10 years ago (had to check this is my records!) We found it helpful to use a specialist tour operator and had very good service from Sabine at Animal Tracks. It looks like both the company and Sabine are still around which in itself is a good sign:

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, it is not a popular South African destination, so there are not a lot of options. If there was a ferry, I would have my Landrover on it tomorrow.

Try a company called Travel With Options here in South Africa. They arrange travel within South Africa including scuba diving but also specialize in Madagascar. Chantelle is very helpful and knows the areas well.
