Driving from Ezulwini to Crocodile Bridge

Which route would be best for this journey in mid June?

Via Piggs Peak, Jeppes Reef, R570 then N4 to Komatipoort. Or Should we go via Mananga and the R571.

Recent posts mention long delays due to roadworks on the N4.

Thank you for any advice

Hi Sandytiger

When we drove from Crocodile Bridge a couple of years ago we used your first route via Piggs Peak and Jeppes Reef, because although on the map it looks longer, we were going in the other direction so did not want to double back from Ezulwini to Manzini the next morning. In your case that would not matter.

Have not done the R571 so hopefully someone can offer you a comparison.

But the above route was fine, quite scenic and no problems at all, we stopped for a couple of things at Mbabane. Took us about half an hour to get across the border, lots of red tape that requires you to go to a different office for each sheet of paper, just relax and enjoy lol.

There are road works between both Nelspruit and Malelane as well as between Malelane and Komatipoort which are causing long delays but it does depend on luck, last time we were only held up 10 minutes. You do need to allow time for this if possible.

Some are supposed to be finished by June.

The Sanparks forums and also the AA sites are good for updates….

Good luck.

Are you staying at Crocodile Bridge?

thank you for your reply.

We are staying at Royal Swazi Sun in Swaziland and then Shishangeni Lodge in Kruger. Route 571 seems to avoid the N4 and all those roadworks but may not be worth it if it is a poor road as is reported on the Sanral website
