Ok.. I know the immediate answer is get a new one. But im leaving in two weeks and its an awful lot of work if im just over reacting. Here is the extent of the damage http://i.imgur.com/wSbCeDf.jpg
http://imgur.com/UNd4Fdq http://imgur.com/layeIW5.. The information page with photo and id numbers is completely fine. I however have no idea if it scans. The damage aside, no scan no entry according to the state department requirements for entry in SA. I called the US. Customs and Boarder Patrol and they said, its up to the airline to decide if you get on the plane. I called the airline and they said, check with the embassy. Im awaiting a call back from them. It literally looks like slight wear and tear on the passport. Edges are a bit frayed, and the slight corners are bent. I glued the back page down and left a book with a 20lb weight on it for a day.. My biggest concern is the scan, was my rfid chip damaged, do i even have an RFID chip in my passport. I cant apply for emergency Passport until Thursday. Common sense would say, if it scans, it would be fine, the passport looks like it should after years of travel. What worries me is the 14 hour flight and then being sent home. If anyone has any insight, or experience with getting a passport at the last minute, or being turned away by customs it would be greatly appricated.
