Essential gear

Spending 7 nights safari and 6 nights in Zanzibar. Our weight is limited to 15Kg. Any advice on 'must take' items would be greatly apreciated.

I was just there for almost three weeks, and went with a carry on only. You don't need to take everything from your home there. Three changes of clothing will do along with the one you wear. Then use the laundries there. No one is at a fashion show.

The best thing to do is to lay out what you want to take, then put half of it back; you won't need it.

Essentials would be a broad brimmed hat/cap, swimming wear for Zanzibar, light weight clothing, and sandals. You might want to take along a light weight jacket for cool evenings according to the time of year. Anything you forget you can purchase when you get there, else you don't need it.

A good small flashlight comes in handy! We did experience some power outages. Also if you want something after they turn the power out at night, you will need the flashlight to see.
