Lake Manyara

Mfuwe and Karl and others, Did you know that Lake Manyara was increased from 330 sq.kms to 648sq.kms. this year. It added the Marang Forest reserve (230 sq. kms) which is on the south west corner of the lake, bought some farms called No 1 to 3 (38 sq. kms.) and also taken over more of the Lake itself (43 sq. kms.) The Manyara beach area (7sq.kms)which is on the eastern border (presumption). It means that there will soon be access through a Souther gate,so there could be a circuit from tarangire through the southern area. This is in line with rumours and we know how they are that Tananpa want to take over a fair bit of land in the Game Controlled areas in the future, both in Lolilondo and Tarangire and other areas.

I don't know much about this noexpert. I know that a bill was tabled in the Bunge about 5 years ago to expand Manyara but didn't think much had been done on that. There are some concerns, don't know if they are valid or not, that the farming practices around Manyara are contributing to severe erosion problems which is subsequently contributing to the reduction in the water levels of the Manyara lake.

Opening the migration routes of Tarangire to Manyara and vice versa will be wonderful.

Now they just have to get rid of some hunting blocks.
