Superb Safari with Sardius Tours in Kenya and Tanzania

We had our honeymoon in August in Africa and we would like to share our experience with other travellers looking for a life-time safari experience, as the preparation stage take time and is not that easy.

We found the company on the internet, after a careful consideration and a long correspondence with the Manager (Felix Ndunda), despite some people making bad PR, we decided to go with Sardius. We went on a 8 days Kenya and Tanzania private safari and subsequently we spent one week at the sandy beaches near Mombasa in Kenya.

We found the safari absolutely tremendous and organised with a personal touch and in a manner that let us feel absolutely comfortable – we didn´t have any complaints during the whole trip.

Almost every day we had two game drives and saw lots of different animals on our route, including the Big 5. We accompanied a hunting lioness for 2 or 3 hours and eventually we saw her attacking and running for her prey - incredible. Or thousand of gnus and zebras migrating from Masai Mara to Serengeti and crossing Masai river - the pictures you can take there of gnus jumping in the water are one of kind. Or a leopard two meters away from our car in ngorongoro forest early in the morning and lots! of black rhinos in Lake Nakuru very close to us..

Parks we visited: Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, Ngorongoro. This choice proved to be perfect - great adversity of landscapes and animals. There are many other parks we would love to go to, but certainly we had too little time to visit all of them.

Below some points we considered when choosing safari company:

1) competitive compared with other tour operators,

2) immediate response to e-mails and tons of our questions

3) positive and personalized attitude, (when you are only two in a car – this gives extra comfort and flexibility)

4) experienced, and knowledgeable guides (drivers)

5) luxury, and romantic lodges during the trip

All lodges we went to were amazing (to be 100% sure you can check them at tripadvisor.com).

To sum up we can definitely recommend Sardius Tours which kept to his promises, and for sure we would use this company once again.

Ps. The above is our private opinion after our honeymoon trip we had and we have nothing to do with sales touts - below link you can have look at – In June we were looking for people joining our trip and sharing the safari costs. However this was not necessary as Felix offered competitive pricing for a private safari.

Im just left wondering why we get so many reviews of tour operators rather than actual safari experiences.

There seems to be an awful lot of posts that are made up of about 90% tour operator 'review' and 10% safari review.

One of two reasons

1. the poster has been to Tz and had a fantastic trip and wants to tell others about it and rec. the company they went with. It can be also a way of trying to say thanks for a great trip to the operator. Generally no harm done, and can introduce people to a great company.

2. It is a tour operator doing a put up job.

people who want a safari can generally pick the genuine ones or the not so.

can sometimes do more harm than good.

but I have noticed not so much on this forum but on other forums the regular posters have their favourite operators and sometimes don't like newcomers.

maybe myself as well.

but generally speaking for the obvious touts as someone said the other day "ignore them" and dont bump them up.

oops sorry forgot.

<<why we get so many reviews of tour operators >>

9 times out of ten, they are put up jobs. You can tell these by the vague 'location' and the fact that again 9 times out of ten they are one post wonders.

OK thats the cynics view and I stand to be corrected but it is a growing phenomena. Regulars can spot the obvious pointers and will either hit the Zapper or report it. I agree about a tendency to 'promote' favourites but this surely comes from being asked for recommendations and it is hard not to fall back on tried and true operators who do get good reviews on here. Over the years I have been in contact with many operators and whilst obviously I cannot do business with them all, I have formed an opinion on their ability to come up with the goods.

I would certainly welcome 'newcomers' as this broadens the bandwidth and would not knock posts that have the hallmarks of being genuine and unsolicited.

Long answer to a short question.
