Freemason Architecture

Dear visitors,

One of my interests as an advent photographer is architecture. I know there are a lot of Middle-Eastern and even some Asian influences in DAR, but do any of you know if there are any known Freemason buildings or landmarks present?

I cannot answer your question, but I met a Dutch photographer on holiday last year who was touring to record buildings donated by former East Germany. It was quite a surprise to see massive apartment blocks in Stone Town and around Zanzibar, as if transported from East Berlin.

There is a Masonic lodge building in Dar es Salaam. If I remember correctly it's in the area of Ohio and Garden streets. I could get to it but off hand I can't tell you exactly where it is located. If you go to the city center and ask you will probably find it. I might suggest that you some of the Asians in the downtown area where this is and they will probably know, those that I've met there who are Masons are Asians from India and businessmen in Dar.
