Tides in Dar Es Salaam

Do the beaches around Dar es Salaam experience the same huge tides as Zanzibar, so that sometimes you'd be looking out more on tidal mud flats?

The tides are pretty similar near Dar es Salaam. It gets very shallow during low tide.

As another option, consider visiting an island right off the coast, such as Mbudya, for the day. There is opportunity to swim there at both low and high tide.

It's not the tides that are the problem.

Everywhere has tides.

It's the lagoon, which is shallow. So when the tide goes out, you are left with a looong walk to the sea.

You can go somewhere where there is no lagoon, or swim in a pool.
