Tour operators

Looking to do a 4 night Serengeti stay in a luxury camp like Kleins or Singita combined with 4-5 nights at Mnemba and a gorilla trek in Rwanda. Any ides which tour operator would be the best to use?

Hi,

With properties at this price point, and covering several different countries, an Africa (rather than country-specific) specialist, is probably going to be most useful to you. There are a number in the UK/USA/South Africa- the FAQ on the right usually has a good list on it.

Just make sure you are dealing with someone who has actually been to Africa and knows the relevant countries well and is bonded/recognised in whatever country they're registered in. Here in UK we've got TTA/ATOL/ABTA and there are similar organisations across the world.

Sounds lovely though, these are all very special places- Kleins remains one of the nicest lodges I have ever visited. With previous trips I've planned Singita is usually slightly easier to link in with Rwanda, but either can work. Best order is Rwanda-Serengeti-Zanzibar or vice versa. If you can, I'd go for Sabyinyo in Rwanda, though looking at their booking charts they are often very full indeed, so it's worth getting on the case sooner rather than later.

Hope this is useful!

Go to the Tanzania Forum and look on the right side of the web page, you will find Top Questions about Tanzania, the 4th question down will take you to a link to some safari operators, all personally know to be good operators. For the Rwanda portion of your trip many safari operators in Tz can link you up with an operator in Rwanda to do a gorilla trek.

When do you plan to travel? Month-year?

Whether at Singita (3 different properties here/different rates) at the Western Serengeti or Klein's at Northeast Serengeti, either would be better depending on month traveling.
