we don't know where to stay.we would like a hotel with good food and entertainment. and to be able to go out in the day for a walk or to shop or at night for an after dinner stroll and drink and feel safe.

we are in our 50's

I would go for Port El Kantoui. weather rather like late September in the UK so take warm clothes evening will be cool if not cold.also take some rain gear ,But I expect you will wear some from the UK. Top temp will be 20C low 11c Pools & sea too cold to swim.

Take cash change some at the Tunisian airport say £25. Hire a safe deposit box at you hotel for all your cash tickets pasports etc.You can get to it any time. A taxi ride to Sousse Madina is great for a haggle never pay more than half what they ask. Le Shukran = no thank you when hassled.

@Alfred<<<Sousse Madina is great for a haggle never pay more than half what they ask>>>

Depends how much the trader is asking Alfred! Don't rush into buying anything, and don't pay any more than YOU think something is worth. Dressing down helps too, so don't flash off all your gold and cameras, and don't let the trader see how much you've got stuffed in your purse/wallet.
