I shall be in Zimbabwe for 5weeks and will need a SIM card for my iPad air .(not a mini). Which SIM card will I need and can I buy it here before departure?
My understanding would be that if you bought the sim card in the US before you go you will be on an American network which means that you will be paying international roaming rates which will be very expensive.
You can buy SIM cards in Zimbabwe very easily and cheaply between $1 and $5 depending on where you buy it. You can then but data bundles or convert airtime in Data. The best networks here are Econet or Net One and they have shops and or vendors in all the major centers around Zimbabwe. My advice is to go to one of their shops as they will register and activate the line straight away, if you buy from a street vendor registering is a bit more tricky. Hope that answers your question
Thank you; Excellent! Lesley
Thank you! Excellent! Lesley
I believe I am correct in saying that the iPad air takes a 'nano' SIM card?
If this is indeed the case, you may well have difficulties finding compatible local cards in Zim.
Thanks Whyone for pointing that out. If you can confirm Lesley that it is a Nano card you need I will try to check with the network companies here to find out if they can supply. Also does the IPad air work with a dongle?
Yes, it is a nano sim that I need. We shall be in Harare for a few days, so if you are able to check where I can get one, that would be brilliant. It doesn't work with a dongle.
Thank you very much
Thank you for that. BooPeel is looking into it for me.
