mini safari out of Vic Falls

We will be in Vic Falls mid January. Is there short Safari day trips to Chobe or other places? Is this by land or water. We will be in Vic Falls for 3 1/2 days. Later in our African vacations we will be on a safari in Eastern Kenya but this will be our only opportunity to see game while in Zimbabwe / South Africa. I would appreciate opinions, guide companies etc.

Yes there are half day, full day and overnight trips to Chobe from Victoria falls. The full day trip is the most popular and is recommended. You can arrange this through tour companies such as wild horizons and shearwater adventures.

There are also game viewing opportunities at Victoria Falls within the Zambezi national park (Discover Safaris operate very good trips). Shearwater also offer game viewing trips on the Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve, just outside Victoria falls.

Chobe has more game but the advantage of the local parks is that you don't have so far to travel. Travel time to Chobe is about one and a half hours each way, plus you will need to purchase a re-entry visa into Zimbabwe.
