Mosquito- Bug question

We are trying to take every precaution to prevent malaria and any bug bites while on Safari in Botswana. We have a deet product, malarone, and long pants and sleeves. What type of protection is inside the tents at the camps- is there mosquito netting and do they spray the "room" also? Should we take our own spray with permetherin in it?

It depends on the camps. Some have nets and some dont. We had Malarone, spray with perma, & Deet. Most of the tented camps also had a can of bug spray which we never really used. You should be fine. It was much less of an issue than we thought it would be before going.

Hello,

All of the camps I've stayed at have mosquito-proof panels over the windows, and most have had mosquito nets as well.

Many of the camps will burn a mosquito coil in your room at night to take care of any bugs which might have gotten in during the day. You can also spray the tent with the spray provided (it smells pretty nasty, so do this a bit before you plan to go to bed). If you have a fan, leave it running at a low speed during the night as this prevents most mosquitoes from landing.

Cheers,

Julian
