December - Kwara in Botswana for cheetah.

Elephant - you take your chances, if not too wet you'll still see small pockets.

At Kwara, you'll see some Elephant bulls around.

Don't know about the big cats other than lions but Chobe is the place for elephant. View them from jeep as they visit the river in the morning or from a boat on the river where you may see them swim past.

Amazing.

If you plan to visit a lodge for a couple of days in the Delta there may be time for a quick visit to Namibia. But if you also want to visit e.g. the Kalahari or Vic Falls then there will not be enough time to visit Namibia. Just visiting the highlights of Namibia will take another 2 weeks.

December is a bit of a tricky one in Botswana as it depends how much rain there is. the more rain the more the elephants disperse and start moving away from the Chobe River (which is normally THE place for elephant viewing), so it would be worth checking out the Linyanti or Savute areas deeper into the Chobe National Park (and adjacent private reserves such as Kwando or Linyanti Private Reserve),

Cheetah on the other hand - the Central Kalahari would be a good option. Moremi was not great for cheetah viewing this year, but they were in Kwara (private concession above Morem in the delta).

It depends how you are travelling as to whether you could get across to Namibia as well. As you have probably read, there are a number of private farms/conservancies that have cheetah and therefore you have a 'guaranteed' option of seeing them. If you are driving then it is a long way to go, if you are flying you are adding on significant cost to get there and you do not really have time to see a significant amount of Botswana and Namibia - so it depends what type of trip you are having.

Alternatively, if you are passing through Botswana's capital Gaborone, the Cheetah Conservation Botswana project has its base at the Mokolodi Game Reserve).

Enjoy your trip.
