I posted this on Victoria Falls, but, thought it important to share with this forum also.
Luckily we called insuremytrip.com before booking our travel insurance. To our surprise, we found out that several of the travel insurance companies/plans do not cover travel in Zimbabwe. If you are traveling to Zimbabwe, even just a few days in Victoria Falls at the end of a safari elsewhere (e.g., Botswana), make sure you check on this before purchasing the travel insurance. If you use the search feature online, select Zimbabwe as your primary destination (even though Botswana, South Africa, Zambia or other country may be your true primary destination) to make sure that you find the companies that cover Zimbabwe. And, don't forget to buy the insurance very soon after your first payment for your trip (even taxes for frequent flier miles) since that way you can get a pre-existing condition waiver. Most companies have 7 to 21 day requirement and the longer you wait, the shorter the list of possible options. Travel insurance is generally required for safaris in Botswana.
