holiday

Hi, Going to Mauritius end of May for a week, originally booked at the Verandah, but after investigation, changed to the Coin de Mire. Anyone stayed there, and comments please? Have only seen one comment containing complaints, which Stephen, the manager replied to immediately stating he would have preferred their complaints to have been discussed with him,. as I would have done and given him a chance to rectify personally. Looking forward to meeting you Stephen on arrival, on the 30/5/07. Angus and Toni Faed, of Australia.

HI,

Coin is a small pretty hotel set in lovely gardens with a small beach accross the road. the rooms are spacious and comfy, and it rates much more than a 2star. Stayed here in 2005 and found it to be a great hotel and very convenient for getting around. You can hire a car or take the bus which stops just outside the hotel to Grand Baie and further afield. Last year stayed at paul et Virginie, which although 3 star and part of the Verandah group, I didn't like as much as the Coin. I think the rooms at the latter are much lighter and brighter, and the artificial lighting is definitely much better. It consistently gets good reviews on the forum, with 2 notable exceptions. The Verandah also is not as nice. I shall be returning at the end of May; see you there. Best Wishes

We stayed at coin de mire from the 26th March to 7th april this year and found it a very pleaseant experiance on hearing that it was our aniversay the hotel maid did our room with flowers and shaped towels to look like swans with their necks joined like swans

we also had a poolside table and chairs for dinner which agian was decorated and were presented with a cake

The holel was very clean and the staff were extemely friendly

By the end of the stay we were on almost first name Terms

With many of the regular staff we came into contact and found

Jay, Ballack, ChristIna, Baden, Cedric and Elvis were all extemely helpfull and pleasent bar staff and people in the uk could learn a lot about service from these guys

If we had any complaints at all we sort of in the last couple of days got fed up of the evening meals which had became sort of repeditive and bland we did choose to eat earlier in the afternoon from the menu at the bar which had a reasonable selection

We did eat out and went a couple of times to a small family run absolutly no frills resteraunt ( Kanaco) everything is cooked by the Granmother and wife completly fresh the chicken curry was abit dry but everything else was first class its about 5mins by taxi on the right handside of the entrance gate the owner brought us back to the hotel in his private both nights car taxi cost about 200 mr

The hotel and gardens are well kept there are taxis available to take you the nearest towns and agreed rates with the hotel so you get an idea of what you are paying

All in all we had a wonderfull quite and restfully stay if you want a hectic nightlife and karaoke and stuff this is not for you

Would definatly recomend that you pay the we bit extra and go all inclusive as an added treat some of the sunsets were fantastic
