Which of these would you pick...

We prefer a hotel oriented towards adults rather than families, with a good beach and good food (variety and quality) including a la carte in addition to buffet. Based on Thomson packages here's my shortlist:

Paradise Cove

Sugar Beach

Long Beach

LUX Grand Gaube

Zilwa Attitude looks nice but there are no reviews of it yet.

Sugar beach is a good hotel but more family orientated.

Long Beach I don't know - just that it's modern and new and has a disco - stayed next door at Belle Mare Plage when it was being built, BMP has a lovely beach but not sure about LB.

Lux GG is I think still not finished its refurb - it comes up the cheapest hotel in the Lux stable when they announced residents offers recently.

Paradise Cove as you know I visited recently and I think maybe following its refurb and additional new pool (work due July to September) and no kids policy might suit you.

The new Zilwa I don't know anything about yet, sorry!

Don't Thomson offer the Ambre - good hotel since it was taken over and refurbed by Sun Resorts last autumn.

It would be between the Sugar Beach and Long Beach for me.

Ambre is a definite contender now I've had a look. We can get 2 weeks AI there next May for less than £5k, and that includes upgrading to a sea view room and premium club seats on the Dreamliner.

Hello all,

If anyone sees any more info on Zilwa I would really appreciate it being shared...i'm intrigued by it.

Does anyone know what the general sea/beach area is like around there? i.e is it soft lapping gentle waves against a soft beach with a nice array of sea life to see snorkelling or is it more dramatic clashes of waves (beautiful but I am not a very confident swimmer) and not really much to see snorkelling?

Many thanks

We looked at Zilwa for over the festive season but discounted it as it only opens in November and didn't want to suffer teething problems that can happen when a hotel just opens. I'd imagine it will have settled down nicely come May.

Beanerd, thought I recognised your username, I've seen you on the Maldives forum :-).
