Mauritius Airport Arrivals Duty Free...

Hi,

Does anyone know whether they sell beer and coca cola in the Mauritius Airport Arrivals Duty Free Shop - and if so any idea of the prices?

Many Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

The new airport is now open so I assume theres a new duty free shop.

The old one had no beer, coke or water, just wine and spirits.

Coke and beer prices are similar to the UK;s in the supermarkets.

Thanks Bronia,

We will be staying at the Constance Belle Mare Plage - can you advise of the nearest supermarkets in Belle Mare / Flacq etc and the best way to get there (i.e. walk / bus / taxi)?

Cheers,

Stayed at BMP and loved it :)

You would be best taking a cab to the nearest town Centre de Flacq which has several large supermarkets stocking everything you need. Its around a 15 minute drive.

The town is worth a look anyway - it also has a market.

No shops within walking distance sorry.

The small village of Belle Mare itself is about a 5-10 min drive but its just got a few shops that sell mainly tourist souveniers.

It was anything from about Rs200 and upwards from duty free when we were there last year so probably gone up by now. Obviously depending on which rum and size of bottle. We found it was cheaper to buy it at the local supermarkets than at duty free. My hubby and sons are very keen on Green Island rum which is one of the cheaper brands. Duty free tends to have fancy packaging which adds to the price.

John if you buy it here - and its just as cheap in the supermarkets if not cheaper, then pack it in your hold luggage?

Its not expensive - was looking at it the other day in Super U - can't remember exact price but quite cheap.

Its wine thats the killer here! Very expensive for a good wine.

Certainly much cheaper to buy in the supermarkets than at duty free plus the selection is better in the supermarkets.
