Honeymoon to Mauritius

Hello

we are planning to go for our honeymoon in Feb first week 2015. We have set aside 7-8 days for the trip and our budget is around 6000 USD (incl.airfare). NZ was our first option but now we are having second thoughts as many people have said 8 days is too less considering we will be flying out of India. Moreover we wanted to do a road trip in south NZ so guess we can postpone the NZ trip.

we were thinking about Mauritius. Any thoughts on this? The only thing is that we are not sure if there is a lot to see and if 7 days is too much? Look forward to recommendations.

Thank you

Seven days is not to much, there is still a lot of Mauritius for me to explore. Feb is summer and the weather will be hot and humid and its one of the wettest months. Your budget should get you a good hotel and I would recommend you divide your time staying at the hotel/pool/beach and exploring the island, looking at the museums, markets even take part in some eco activities.

7 or 8 days is not too long in Mauritius there's a lot to see and do, we go for two weeks at a time, occasionally for three weeks and it's never long enough for me.

You need even longer for NZ, we spent 3 weeks touring South Island self drive which was about right and would do similar timing for North Island if we return.

Mauritius and New Zealand are completely different in what they offer but fabulous in their own way.

How about considering South Africa, you can start at Cape Town and drive down the garden route to Port Elizabeth and do a safari there.
