Reliable tour operator in Freetown

I plan to go to Sierra Leone end of March for 12 days (group of 3 adults). Will like to include a safari tour to Outamba-Kilimi National Park. Does any know of reliable local tour operators that can pick us up in Lungi Airport to relieve us from the stress and arrange a safari tour?

Hello. I have just returned from S.L. While I was there I used a guide called Francis. We visited Outamba park. Also he arranged and escorted me to Bo and Kenema. He is in the process of starting his own travel / guide company. He was very knowlegeble and helpful and speaks creol and mende.

When we stayed out of Freetown he organized his own accomodation at no cost to me! Anything I wanted to buy, I would send Francis and he would pay much less than I would have.

For 2 weeks service I paid him £250. If you have any questions, his e-mail is sierraleone_tours@yahoo.co.uk

Good luck

Do a search for VSL Travel. They have a lot of experience in this. They are based in Freetown. Other local travel companies include IPC Travel and Karl Travel.

Karl Travel info: booked a Gambia Bird flight through Karl Travel, and paid for the tickets by money transfer. Found out by coincidence that flight will not operate anymore (no info through Karl Travel). Karl Travel offered full refund of money by bank transfer, but never did, now for 3 weeks. "we will do the transfer tomorrow" is all the say, everytime, everyday. Not trustworthy. to say the least. Hands off!!

Contact Martin Kopec through his site. He is a good tour guide who is accompanying me to Sierra Leone in less than two weeks from now (November 27, 2013) http://www.africatrip.net/

Good evening Mr.Bern,

You paid us GBP298 equivalent to $483 for your ticket,we informed you that the flight timing had been changed and asked you if you would want to choose another date of travel. You declined and requested for the refund of $483.

We transferred a total of $536.61 to your bank account which included bank charges.Your bank returned this money advising that your account details was wrong. Hassan our senior ticketing officer who was transacting this business telephoned you.You then gave him the correct bank details. You have now received your money in full,we have lost $53 in this transaction and a bad comment on TripAdvisor's website.

It would be appropriate that you amend your statement as I have a confirmation email from you acknowledging the money in full and final settlement.
