We are a group of 2nd generation Sierra Leoneans from the U.S. and we are visiting Sierra Leone for the first time. We are going to be visiting early next year, and arranged to do some volunteering at a school for three days during our trip. We'll be there for a total of about two weeks and will be staying in Freetown.
There have been a lot of great suggestions for inexpensive and safe places to stay, and fun activities to do while we're visiting. We're very excited!
I don't know if this question breaks the forum rules or not, but we are trying to find information about where to buy supplies locally for the school and about how much the supplies might cost. Where are some good places to find for water tanks and cement bricks and how much do those things normally cost?
Also, what would you recommend for transportation in-country? How do most people get around? Are there private vehicles and drivers we can hire? Do we rent vehicles? What kinds of vehicles are they?
Thanks for your suggestions!
