Uganda - time of year and safari itinerary

We are going to visit our daughter who moved to Uganda to work for a year. She lives in a small city 3 hrs west of Kampala. She is there thru next February. What is the best time of year to go for a 10-14 day trip? She is unavailable in June and October...we are thinking of visiting mid November.

My thoughts on an itinerary is to go to Bwinda, QE NP, Kazinga Channel cruise, Kabale and Murchison Falls at a minimum.

We are looking at a mid priced bracket, with consideration at Murchison to stay at Paraa.

Any and all thoughts on time of year, itinerary, safari company and lodgings would be greatly appreciated.

Any time of the year is fine as the wild life is not affected by weather changes.

Wild life is available all year round.

I agree. Uganda is equatorial and apart from the tropical downpours when the sun is near the overhead position the time of year has little effect on weather. they say April May is the wettest but it is all relative.

Mid November is as good as any.

Your Itinerary looks fine. Try not to cover too much or you risk being in the car more than actually seeing wildlife.

Bwindi 2 nights, then up to Mweya/Kazinga area, 2 nights, maybe 3. Kibale (Note spelling or you end up over 200km away in the wrong place) Forest, 2 nights, and up to paraa in Murchison 3 nights.

There goes your 11 days 10 nights and you are travelling every other day.

For a Safari Company , just check on the Association of Uganda tour Operators website (http://www.auto.or.ug) . You will find plenty of genuine tour operators , try to write to so many of them and get several ideas . Then choose amongst them.

Yes, In 14 days , you can visit the areas that you would like to visit and any time is good time to visit Uganda .

Like what the latter post says, try not to cover so many places but just have enough time in most places of your interest.

In addition to what , the latter post suggests ,you should also visit Kabale or Lake Mburo Np at the beginning or the end of the tour to shorten the distance between Kampala and Bwindi . This will make 13 night 14 days or less depending on how many nights you will spend in the above listed areas.

Lastly but not least , Uganda is a good country to visit at all times of the year so be it in the rainy season or sunny , your encounters for a Uganda gorilla safari are paramount.
