Flying into Entebbe, need suggestions for 4/5 days in Uganda

Hi,

I'm in the early stages of planning my brief Ugandan trip. It'll be in April and I will arrive in Entebbe late at night. As I can't afford to gorilla trek should I base myself in Entebbe? Seems the easiest thing to do.

If anyone can suggest some trips for me and things to do I'd be really grateful. I've looked through the recommended 'things to do' page but just in case anyone has any others I thought I'd ask here too. I'm wondering how easy it is to get to all these places without a driver?

My primary love and reason for going to Uganda is animals. I'm a huge animal lover and anything to do that involves them is of interest to me.

Thank for your help.

Day 1: arrival and transfer to booma hotel

Day 2: fly to kasese and this afternoon you can enjoy the cruise on kazinga channel.

Day 3: morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi national park.

Day 4: gorilla trekking.

Day 5: fly back or drive back to entebbe for your out bound flight back home

Hi, thanks but you seem to have misread my post. Can't afford gorilla trekking. That means probably can't afford flight anywhere else.

Hello,

Murchinson seems the best option with rhino sanctuary on the way or chimp trek.

There you can have game drive and boat trip to the falls. If you have a driver waiting up you

can do the wonderful walk to the top.

Around Entebbe there is Mabamba swamp and in Kampala the mosque is worth a visit

and the Ndere troup performance.

I am swiss lived one year in Kampala, turned back last October for holidays.

I have a good driver guide if you need one.

Otherwise try Backpackers and Redchili websites they offer group trip at good rates.

Don't hesitate to write to me if you need more details about accomodations or some more informations.

Hello

Are you coming from somewhere else? Is this R&R?

I wouldn't base yourself in Entebbe no. You need to add a minimum of an hour or sometimes two, to get to and from Kampala. Boma, as lovely as it is, isn't cheap - check Airport GH; and there are others, read the top forum, one or two of the most recent posts mentioned a new GH which was good value for money.

Consider the Red Chilli Trip - you can google it.

Are you interested in rafting?

Murchison Falls is definitely your best bet for safari and variety.

Thank you. I am flying in from London for work reasons which I get done almost immediately leaving me a few days before I return. Seem to be plenty of good choices re where to stay in Entebbe. I looked at The Boma but yes it is too much money. After recent suggestions I am now considering going to Red Chilli the following morning but depends if they have tours leaving that day or day after I could join and the ease of which I can find a taxi to take me there and at what cost. Rafting is not high on my list or priorities no. Mainly animals.

Red Chilli normally has tours to Murchison every other day for around £160 (ish!), I went on one with them and they are very good. If you email them they are really quick to respond with dates etc.

Enjoy - I did!

I worked out from their website they're about £280? Well the Murchison big 5 one was. Then I read the reviews of the accommodation and they weren't that good, but I suppose I'd only be in Kampala 2 nights max. I've emailed them and so shall see what they say. :)

9. Re: Flying into Entebbe, need suggestions for 4/5 days in Uganda

We were looking at weekend trips to Murchison Falls for March. We REALLY like the Red Chilli 3 day for $320. However, it is not offered on the day we need to go (due to work schedule).

But we have not had any luck finding ANYTHING even close to this price-wise. We would really prefer to go with a group, rather than book a private tour....As meeting locals, and fellow travelers is one of our favorite things about seeing the world!

Can anyone here recommend other similar (very basic, yet reputable) tours that we could check for availability?
