Need a Visa

We will be travelling to Zambia next Spring and just learned that we will need entry visas. Can someone please tell me where to start the application process. Thanks

Process, arrive at port of entry, fill in form, hand over $50US cash, visa will be issued, end of process. It should be possible to download the visa form from the Zambian web site, zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/zims/default.aspx but this has been out of action for some time, but its worth a try now and then before you travel just to save a bit of time on arrival, looking for a pen, somewhere to write, you can then go in front of those who have the form to fill in. One copy only required for on arrival application, no photos needed. You can ask for a double entry if you are going out of the country and returning, they may or may not issue, but you can get another single on return in any case. You can go in and out as many times as you like as long as you pay the fee!

You can also obtain the visa prior to travel, but frankly it’s not worth the bother, but if you insist, look at http://www.zambiaembassy.org/vaf2010.pdf .for the details, note the requirements for 2 blank pages.

Payment in $US only, $50 single entry, $80 double, multiple only available prior to travel, but is only really intended for business travellers.

Notes preferably no older than 5 years, (max 2002) no tears, marks or tape, i.e. newish is best. Correct amount only, as change is often “conveniently” not available.

Hi unfortunately the Zambia site is still out of order (nothing new there then, BTIA )

Dont worry about filling form on arrival there are only a few basic questions, you will need passport handy for number, place of issue, and an address in Zambia (first place of staying) and a pen ! Filling in before is simply one small less thing to do, but to be honest, I just do it on arrival, not a problem!

In reality this is nothing like getting into the states, (or the UK for that matter), all they are interested in is a few basic details, and your visa fee.

DONT go down the route of using a visa service, thats just a way of getting their fingers into your wallet! (and you are giving sensitive info to a complete stranger)

(BTIA= but this is Africa)

I don't know what it's like at other ports of entry, but when we arrived at Livingstone Airport in mid-September, we didn't have to fill out any forms at all - we just showed our passports and handed over the money. Then our visas were entered into the passports, and we were good to go.
