Trip report - Oct 1 - Oct 19, 2013, Bridge to Bhutan

Four of us completed an amazing journey to and through Bhutan for 19 days. We used the Bridge to Bhutan travel agency and could not have been happier. We completed the Jomolhari Trek (7 days) and then traveled from Paro, to Thimphu, Punakha, the Phobjikha Valley, Trongsa and Bumthang. We visited monasteries, dzongs, high passes, memorials, Stupas, Mani walls, museums, a living village, and the Jakar Tsechu festival. Bridge to Bhutan did an incredible job of managing all the arrangements for the trek (guide, horses, gear, cook, additional assistants) and the rest of our itinerary (hotel accommodations/meals, driver, guide, activities). We stayed in large cities (by Bhutan standards) and small rural villages and were completely satisfied and newly surprised every single day of our stay in this fascinating country. Our driver was exceptional and maneuvered all the twists and turns and ruts and potholes so smoothly. Our guide was beyond exceptional. He was with us the entire 19 days and it was difficult to say good-bye. He encouraged us on the trek and was so attentive to our needs. As we traveled throughout the country this attentiveness did not diminish. There were many things he did regularly to insure our comfort. He was quite knowledgeable about the history of the country and of Buddhism and provided excellent explanations at the Dzongs and the monasteries. Accommodations were totally adequate. All of them were clean, warm, and had plenty of hot water. More luxury is available, if you prefer, at an additional fee. We went with the standard and were not disappointed. Meals are served at the hotels, buffet style. They always included rice (of course), vegetables, meat, and dessert. Often there was soup. The national dish, chilies and cheese, were served at every meal. You could choose what you wanted and how much of whatever was provided.

The owners of Bridge to Bhutan (2 brothers) each met up with us and spent an evening with us conversing and sharing a meal. We were extremely impressed by the amount of personal attention we received!

The trek was really a highlight and once again Bridge to Bhutan made it so. The food on our trek was so good with fresh vegetables and fruit every day. The gear was good quality (tents, sleeping pads, etc.). Horses carried our gear.

We were incredibly pleased with our selection of Bridge to Bhutan. They went above and beyond in meeting our needs and managed every detail.

pleased you enjoyed Bhutan

a trip review would be good rather than just an advertisement for the tour company

after 19 days you must have some great stories to tell of places you visited

Agree with above poster

ANd to do justice to all other local agents: the descibed personal attention is given by most if not all agents, it is the Bhutanese way of organising trips in their special country.
