Best Tour Operator in India

Indo Asia arranged a private tour of Rajasthan, Agra and New Delhi for my husband and I in January 2011. We would have used a US agency, but friends in India recommended Indo Asia and we judged their proposal to be more thorough, interesting and less expensive than US agencies. Our trip was excellent: good rooms in the best hotels, careful drivers and knowledgable guides with fluent English. Plus, the travel agent called us a couple of times during our 2 week trip to see how everything was. We highly recommend Indo Asia.

I went to India last year in August 2012. I was with a friend (two women) and we want to discover so many places but at the same time a little afraid to go byourselves. Finally we decided to go with Times India Travels and it was the best decision. Vijay was so so nice with us, good car, good driver. We visited Delhi, Agra. Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Vanarasi (by plane). Vijay arrange everytihing and it was great. If I go back to India for me the best will be Times India Travel again.

Aloha Angelina,

I'm a little late here but just wanted to chime in, even though you have already heard from me. We had a fabulous trip with Vijay's expertise and I highly recommend Times India Travels. I hope you give him a go and have a wonderful trip!

Best of luck! Sandy

Thanks for the heads-up.

The actual itinerary looks great, and we are very excited at the prospect of seeing India. Our concern is that there was a major re-structuring of the company in 2012 and it is now quite difficult to find out much information about them since that point. Obviously this is quite an expensive holiday, so we are looking for some form of reassurance that our money.......and our holiday, are in good hands. Whilst no-one seems to be saying anything bad about them, they don't get flagged up as being a major player in this market, and aren't making the " best operator " listings.

Mike, are you referring to Western & Oriental"?

Never heard of them. Are they from the uk? Best to go with a local Indian tour operator then you cut out the middle man and greatly reduce costs.

We found classic Taj Classic Tours and Tour Director Mohd. Saad on TripAdvisor and had absolutely no problems during the 7 days we spent touring northern India: Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and back to Delhi. The only leg which we did not travel by car was from Varanasi to Agra, which we traversed by air-conditioned train. The Taj Tours guide took us to the Varanasi train station and arranged for porters to carry our large bags (on their heads) to the train, which was about 0.5 km away. When we arrived at Agra, we had no idea how the Taj agent would recognize us or know which coach we were in. When we arrived in Agra, I went to the nearest door and no sooner had I appeared in the doorway, the Taj agent called me by name. Taj Driver Mr. Bansi was also there to meet us and we easily negotiated the chaos that was the Agra train station. The Taj staff escorted us to the hotel and then reviewed the arrangements for next day. It was the same routine for the entire trip and they were totally dependable and punctual. Mr. Bansi was a huge contribution to our comfort factor in driving from Agra to Jaipur to Jodhpur, and then flying back to Delhi. His English was easily understood and he was a very careful and skillful driver.

From the moment we first contacted Taj Classic Tours, the email communicate was immediate and efficient. Mr. Sahd never failed to respond within hours. He offered us both 4-star and 5-star hotels. We elected the latter and made some modifications. The guides Taj Classic Tours provided were excellent and we were pleased with all but one of the hotels (the Clarks in Varanasi), which we all knew was a substitute for our first choice, which was unavailable.

We always felt we were in safe and good hands with Taj. We are experienced travelers and certainly appreciate the importance of being met at the airport or train station, dependable ground transportation, being accompanied to the next airport or train station check-in, dependable transportation, selection of reliable hotels and restaurants. Taj Classic Tours never let us down and we would highly recommend their services to anyone contemplating a tour across northern India. We knew from the pre-trip email correspondence that the service would be excellent. And it was excellent indeed!

Our great journey to India was organized by Indian Tours. And I would like to thank them for getting back us home safely since all trip we felt ourself safed and pleased. The russian speaking guide knew a lot of about places where we were. Dehli-Agra-Djaypur unforgettable 10 days. They even arranged our delivering and departure to/from Chennay - Puduchery.

Everything was arranged in time.

Only one thing they should check before hand is to check hotels which they provide.

Thank u very much!
