Buying train tickets online by foreigner

Hi,

I want to travel from Varanasi to Khajuraho by train in October and I have problems with buying train tickets.

1. I cannot register on irctc.co.in because I don't have Indian mobile number.

2. I've tried cleartrip.com but it failed even there was many available seats (my card was debit but this is other story).

3. I don't want to use makemytrip.com sice it has terrible reviews.

Are there any other ways to buy those tickets?

Hi...

Normally travelers from abroad use cleartrip.com. you may try the same once again.

If still the problem persists, then you may contract some travel agent who might help you out.

When we did this last year we booked on the irctc site. If they want an Indian Mobile, make one up, they don't contact you on it and all the ticket information comes by email. It worked perfectly for us.

You can also look at www.ezeego1.co.in or at www.looknbook.com

I personally don't have any experience with above.

Hi,

It seams that using www.ezeego1.co.in only Indian residents can book tickets, while www.looknbook.com has train booking section under construction.

But anyway, my money was returned by cleartrip.com so I've tried this site once agian and this time I've successfully bought tickets.

Just for everyone information: I'm not sure if it was just coinsidence but this time I've been booking tickets during Indian's daytime and everything went smoothly while previously it was a night and my booking failed.

Thanks for everyones help.

i know .... dealing with indian administration is hard... very hard and long. what i did is i tried to booked a train via cleartrip and they asked me to sign up. i signed up (cleartrip and irctc.co.in as well) after you will receive a email with your password (for your account and a email confirmation) and to have the other password via sms, you have to scan your passport and send it here care@irctc.co.in with your name account. and after, they will send you back the sms password via email.... and then you will be able to sign in with irctc. .........
