Indian Currency

Hi

This is our first trip to India, can you please help sort out the money thing.

Can we get rupees here in England and enter India with this money?

Is it best to take travellers cheques to exchange there ?

Are dollars more acceptable than sterling?

Regards

The rupee is a closed currency so you can't officially bring in any with you. Bring travellers cheques or sterling to change there, no point in bringing dollars, you will have to pay 2 lots of exchange charges. I also bring a debit card as a back up, but there are charges for using that.

You can not bring in Rupees from out side india.

You will get good value if you bring sterling no need to change to USD.

You can bring Travellers cheques and can be exchanged.

There are ATM's and can use VISA and Master cards.

TC and Pounds are easily exchangeable.

It is also better to use ATM Cards/better than carrying currency
