Help with planning itinerary for India trip.

Hello,

I need help in organizing an itinerary to visit Delhi, Amritsar, Agra, Varanasi, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. I don't know where to start and the sequence of the routes. I'm traveling with my husband and we will be in India approximately 10 to 11 days. Due to the lack of time, I think we would have to take flights to most of the destinations. Would this be a good idea? Someone please tell me how to travel around India; I need some tips.

Thank you so much in advance.

You are probably trying to do too much within the time available to you.You can travel from Delhi to Jodhpur by an overnight train,Jodhpur to Jaipur by train,Jaipur to Udaipur by train,Udaipur to Agra by overnight train,Agra to Varanasi by overnight train (the station with more options would be Tundla),Varanasi to Amritsar by overnight train,Amritsar Delhi by train.

Udaipur,Jodhpur and Jaipur are not well interconnected by flights.

You should ideally spend 2 nights in each of Varanasi,Jaipur,Jodhpur,Udaipur and a night each in Agra and Amritsar, so unless you increase your length of stay you can not fit in everything.

If you cut out one of Jodhpur or Udaipur and one of Amritsar or Varanasi,it may work out better.

What about flying Delhi to Jodhpur, Udaipur to Agra, Agra to Varanasi and Varanasi to Amritsar? would this save me time and be able to go to all the places I mentioned?

If I have to cut one of the cities, which one should I skip, Jodhpur or Udaipur?

Thank you for your suggestions, I really appreciate it.

Hi Ancarla,

The best way to do this trip would be- hire a car for the Golden Triangle and Jodhpur - Udaipur . So the sequence would be - Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Jodhpur - Udaipur . Fly from Udaipur to Delhi, take a flight from Delhi to Varanasi and back, and then fly Delhi-Amritsar. I don't think there is a flight from Varanasi to Amritsar.

Thanks

Thats too much of travelling in a gap of 10-11 days

I would suggest extending the trip by atleast 5-7 days more,if u actually intend to cover all those places without much of a worry and at Leisure.

Do you think that hiring a car would be better than riding the overnight train? A car with a driver, what is the cost? Thank you
