Hotel standards

My wife and I are considering a holiday in Nepal. What are the hotel standards like? Are they clean? Modern?

they are ok - Clean - Yes quite a few, Modern - Yes quite a few. - but don't expect world class luxury in Nepal. Best thing is to browse through hotels that are ranked here in TA based on user reviews. This is the best way to find out.

It is not easy answering!

It depends...where in the world do you come from? What are the standard you normally prefer and consider good? How clean to things have to be, before you find them clean? What is modern to you? What are your plans in Nepal (culture, trekking, adventure, relaxing...?)

A 3 star hotel in Kathmandu is certainly not the same standard as a 3 star hotel in Denmark. But it is a very good standard compared to the living conditions in Nepal.

As 'neupaneaj' suggest...read the reviews and check the travellers photos. It will give you some idea about the standards.

If you can be a little more specific about your plans and your expectations, it will be much easier to answer your questions in a more satisfying way.

You pays your money you takes your choice...our research suggested that there was a huge variation in standard and in the end we stayed in the Hotel Nepalaya in Kathmandu having negotiated one of their "suites" which in fact was very good
