Kathmandu guest house

Arriving in Nepal by myself on the 28th of December. My travel agent has suggested Kathmandu guest house as that is where my 22 day trek starts from on dec 30th, there are mixed reviews... I would love reviews/experiences. This is my first time in the Himalayas. I am not fussy, a comfortable clean Bed and good hot shower will keep me happy. Just need a good safe base.

Over priced for what you get and the service is absolutely horrible. You also pay for wifi. Great location though.

I wouldn't stay there again

Different and sweet environment inside the guest house but overcrowded and mostly full all round a year but definitely a good place to accommodate you.

Hallo, did you check our reviews in Tripadvisor here?

tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g293889-Nepal-Hotels.…

There are also reviews about Kathmandu Guest house.

I usually stay in Bhaktapur, quite, not noisy, traditional city.

I've used the KGH for many years, partly through lethargy that has prevented me from looking at alternatives. Its location is superb if you want to be close to the centre of Thamel, and the courtyard, and even more so the garden, are delightful oases of calm - a refuge from the chaos outside the gate.

Rooms are generally good, and relatively clean.

The service at the courtyard restaurant is not the world's most efficient, and Reception has been known to foul up bookings . . . .

. . . . but I'm using it again next year

Okay, so I will stay there as it seems easiest. Can you recommend which room I should get?

Many thanks!
