Everest 3 Passes distances

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I've just finished the Everest 3 passes walk, and was wondering if anyone knows the distances walked, and metres ascensed /descended.

I've put below the places I walked to/from, if anyone can help that'd be great.

Lukla - phakding - eg 4km, des 400m

Phakding - namche

Namche - Everest view hotel - khumjung and back

Namche - tengboche

Tenboche - dingboche

Dingboche - chukkung

Chukkung - chukkung ri and back

Chukkung - kongma la pass - lobuche

Lobuche - gorak Shep

Gorak Shep - ebc and back

Gorak Shep - kp and back

Gorak Shep - lobuche

Lobuche - dzonghla

Dzonghla - cho la - gokyo

Gokyo - gokyo ri

Gokyo - renjo la - lungden

Lungden - thame

Theme - nam he

Namche - lukla

Any help I can get would be great.

Danny - I have done the 3HPs twice, so far, and really enjoyed it. I don't know the distances - generally people do not give distances when talking/writing about trekking in Nepal, as the main factors are the steepness and roughness of trails, altitude gain, how twisty a route is and so on. Most people therefore give indicative times, if anything, but even this is dependent on fitness, snow, load carried, minor route finding errors (which can waste a lot of time and energy), amongst other things.

Having said that, someone is bound to have worked out or measured the distances - it will be interesting to see what they are.

Approximations based on my notes, memory, and judicious use of Google Earth

Phakding - Namche c 10k +800m -50m

Namche - Everest view hotel - khumjung and back c 6k +/-400m

Namche - tengboche c. 12 k, +770m -350m

Tenboche - dingboche c. 10 k, *550m -80m

Dingboche - chukkung c. 5 k, +400m

Chukkung - chukkung ri and back

Chukkung - kongma la pass - lobuche c. 10k, +800m -600

Lobuche - gorak Shep c. 4k +250m

Gorak Shep - ebc and back c 8k +/-220m

Gorak Shep - kp and back c 4k, +/- 450m

Gorak Shep - lobuche c 4k -250m

Lobuche - dzonghla c 5k -200 +200

Dzonghla - cho la - gokyo c 10k +700m -600m

Gokyo - gokyo ri c 4k +/-550m

Gokyo - renjo la - lungden

Lungden - thame

Thame - namche c 7.5k +50m -350m

Namche - lukla c 14k +300m -800m
