Travel Agency offers in Nepal

Hi,

I just arrived to Kathmandu and want to visit Chitwan and Pokarah.

The tourist information guy from the hotel is offering us some packages.

1) 2 nights 3 days in Chitwan (everything included) transportation and works with W.A.R hotel for US$ 230. But because of the festivals there is no bus available so we can do it for US$270 including a taxi from oKathmandu to Chitwan (the way back by bus).

2) Annapurna Region 2 nights 3 days all included for US$300.

Just want to know if these prices are Ok or do you recommend other agencies?

Don't want to be ripped off on my first day in Nepal!!

Cheers!!!

if you are not flying to those destinations

you could pull this off for half of that

but then - don't know what type of serives he or she is offering

and then if you were to do it on your own

this will easliy suck up a day or more palnning while in ktm

is utilizing the time and actually having fun during your valuable holiday more warranted or saving some money is a pramount - it all depends

but travels to chitwon - then on to pkr and then back to ktm will set you back about $30-$40 or so at most - if that

meals are $5-10 each and accomotations are not more than $50 night

lodges in ABC are less than $5 a night

this should give you some idea

good luck

Ho

It's to say whether these are good deals with the information given but such trips can be done more cheaply by organising it independently or by finding other agents. Both take time and effort of course.

The agent might be right about buses but Nepalis do not usually travel by the more expensive tourist buses so these might be available. KTM to Pokhara costs $20 with the most expensive (though not necessarily the best) company, which also runs to Chotwan too. Any travel agent agent can book rickets though you could easily visit their office in Thamel.

Once in Pokhara there are plenty of hotels and even in high season it's relatively easy to find an inexpensive but decent place. If by Annapurna you mean one of the smaller villages at the start of trekking trails then you have time to take another bus or taxi and find a lodge easily enough.

Similar with Chitwan too; take a tourist bus, find a hotel (they are very good at finding you too) and arrange the park activities there.

Good luck.

PS what is a W.A.R. hotel?
