3 or 4 days in Kathmandu ?

My wife and I (both in 60's) will fly into Kathmandu in February after a 3 week tour of Bhutan, before flying on to London.

Thinking of stopping in K for a few days - maybe just relax (in and around a nice hotel ??), maybe get the best sight of mountains, maybe an easy one-day trek to experience real Nepal.

Maybe even all three - which might justify more than 4 days - but nothing too tiring after a busy, buzzy tour.

Suggestions please.

The best will be Nagarkot for you while you can also consider Dhulikhel on the side. Both of the places are quite popular for viewing Himalayan Panorama and there are some easy day hikes around both places.

All the best!

do the KTM essentials tour for first day or two after you land

Durbar Squares of KTM, Patan and Bhaktapur

Swoyambhu and Bouddhanath

to have claimed that you have "visited" KTM

but it will be "busy and buzzy" per your unliking i must warn you

whole valley is like that - what do you do?...haha

after that go to Nagarkot or Dhulikhel for a quiet retreat in one of the lodges there while enjoying the view of the mountains - you can also hike between these two places

a 4 - 5 hour spectacular hike
