Is two days in Bangkok enough?

We are taking a cruise of Asia and will be in Thailand for two days. Are two days enough to see highlights or should we plan to stay another two days? We disembark in Bangkok. Thank you.

You actually will be disembarking quite aways from Bangkok and have to take bus or taxi to ge tthere. Bangkok is not on the ocean. Two days is definitely not enough time for Bangkok, but you can see a few of the highlights such as the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, etc. Ca nge ta Thai massage, eat Thai food, go on a river dinner cruise or go see Siam Niramit. Easier if you stay in hotel i nBangkok one or two nights. It all depends on your ship arrival and departure time from the port.

Go t oBangkok Forum and read FAQs on right side of page for Things t oSee and Do.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how far the port is from city. I was thinking of staying at the Renaissance or JW Marriott for a couple of additional days. We'll be one night on the ship so have two days to tour and then additional two days if we stay at Renaissance. I would guess there are taxis to get us from port to hotel. Do you have any idea how far and how expensive? Thank you again.

It's not enough, but you will be able to see the main sites in 2 days such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho etc and maybe a river cruise. Do the sites in the day and shopping at night.

Taxis arranged by the cruise will be expensive but reliable. The port is at Laem Chabang, about 1.5 hours from the city centre. Bangkok is a large city with a huge number of things to see and do and it would be easy to spend a couple of weeks here and only see a part. Check the Top Questions on the right side of the Bangkok forum page which includes a section on "What To See & Do" as well as lots of other really helpful stuff.

2 days isn't very much but if you plan carefully you should be able to see the main sights.

Consider hotel near BTS very seriously. BTS skytrain can get you to many places in city quickly, cheaply, safely, efficiently and keeps you out of traffic jams.
