Weather in June..

Hi all!

We are thinking of going to Thailand for the month of June.. I can see that this is around the start of the wet season, is it still worth going?

Also are there any good festivals worth checking out through June?

Cheers,

Renee

Yes its in the wet season (for about 75% of the country) but that does not mean rain all day, more likely less than an hour each time. There are no particular national festivals in June.

Hi Renee,

We have stayed in Patong for 2 weeks for 4 of the last 5 years during the last week of June and 1st week of July.

2007 - Rained last 2 days out of 14

2008 - Rained the first 2 days out of 14

2010 - Rained the whole first week pretty much non stop, it was a real bummer but the second week was great.

2011 - Pretty much perfect for 2 weeks, had a couple of showers but I think that was it.

Most trips had a fair mix of sunshine and overcast days but it's 33 degrees & 85% humidity so who cares.

Koh Samui isn't the monsoon season in June so that would be a less riskier option.

We always go in June and stay on the east coast and were also in Hua Hin this last June, hardly saw any rain at all, was very pleasant weather, not too hot.

If looking for beaches / islands In June stick to the Gulf of Thailand side

For best beach weather at that time Hua Hin and the coast south + Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Nakhon Si Thammarat beaches

Choosing you beach / island time depends entirely how you want to spend your days and evenings. Places vary from very commercial to very natural, and of course you can mix those.

Koh Samui gives you busy tropical island but you can easily include Koh Tao for laid back island and snorkeling for a few days, easy to island hop.
