DE's - is it worth adding an FAQ on the various Islands?

Fellow DE's was just wondering if it might be worthwhile writing an FAQ for "which island" as this question is so frequently asked. It would be a general guide to the different islands broken down by east coast, west coast etc, how to get there, weather, vibe etc?

What does everyone think?

Thanks Pea, I know many people won't read it but at least we could point people to it for the places we don't know about.

Probably should include other beachside areas like Khao Lak, Krabi etc even though not islands.

Cassnu, it's a big job, duplicating work others have done before. More often than not, I would just link to Travelfish http://www.travelfish.org/islands.php or Andaman Island Hopping http://andaman-island-hopping.com/ which cover the story in ways we wouldn't be able to do on a TA "traveler article" anyway. You have to create a Traveler Article, then link to it in the forum FAQs.

Thanks bill2p, the Travelfish site is great, so I might point people in that direct after giving them my own thoughts.

There are a number of FAQs in the Top Questions on the Khao Lak Forum that give information or links to information on the Similans, Surins and Koh Tachai and Koh Kho Khao which any member can be directed to. I agree that the two sources Bill mentions are better for directing members to for questions coming through the main Thailand Forum as well as to the individual island or destination forums so I've taken the liberty of creating a new FAQ directing members to this topic which contains those links. Any subsequent additions to this thread will keep the FAQ updated.

Also, the Wikitravel articles on individual islands are often very good and detailed and worth linking to. Here's Koh Lanta for example: http://wikitravel.org/en/Koh_Lanta

Wikitravel tends to be more traveler-oriented, though, with transportation and accommodation tips.

I agree but there is no Wikitravel general site listing all the islands that I could find, hence the link to a list of islands. Hopefully members wanting more travel-oriented information will then look for a Wikitravel link for the particular island of interest. Unless, of course, someone provides a comprehensive list of Wikitravel links, ;-)
