2 weeks, Thai beaches, round trip from Bangkok, best route?

Me and 3 friends have 2 weeks to spend in Thailand and want to spend it travelling round the beaches. We are starting and ending in Bangkok and are then getting an internal flight to Bali for a week.

What's the best route to do the beaches to end up at Bangkok?

Also if anyone has any advice on Bali that would be great!

Cheers! :)

There's really no best route as most of the beaches are south unless you go east of Bangkok to places like Koh Chang and Koh Samed/Samet which are closer to Bangkok.

You haven't said what time of year you are going which should be your main decided factor:

Koh Samui/Koh Phangan/Koh Tao - October to December is monsoon season

Phuket/Krabi/Lanta/Khao Lak - May to November is monsoon season

If you are looking for more of a backpacker vibe then Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are the places to head.

Seems like its rainy then! We get to Bangkok on the 25th of June and aim to stay for two weeks before heading to Bali. Is there a more southern airport we could get a flight from to save heading back up to the north of Thailand?

The beaches on the east coast, Samui/Phangan/Tao are not rainy in June.

You used to be able to fly from Phuket to Bali direct but that flight has been stopped now.

As Cassnu says the west coast is in monsoon season. This doesn't just mean rain, it can mean dangerous sea conditions too. This then has issues with most water based activities as well as any ferry travel.

You can island hop around Koh Tao / Phangan / Samui easily, you can bus+ferry down the coast easily and relatively cheaply

and should be ok wweather at that time

Definitely head to the Gulf coast as you don't want to risk getting washed out even if you are used to British weather.

Bali is a beautiful place but I think it's more of a culture destination as the beaches and water clarity isn't that great we stayed at the pool and bnever went into the sea.

I've heard loads of good things about Bali, especially all the islands and things there is to do there so we won't be staying in our hotel for too long.

We now have 3 weeks to do Thailand so is it worth going to Chiang Mai?
