Koh samui - Hansar or zazen

We are travelling to koh samui February 2014. Looking for nice accommodation and interested in hansar samui or zazen resort. Bith in bophat area and I see the beach is not that nice but would love to know if it is a good place to stay. We are in early 40's so don't want party holiday but want to be close to some action for restaurants or bars.

The hotels I wanted was for a sea view and both offer. The pol as is quite important but I think the pool at hansar seems to be right on beach but not private as it looks like public walk past, does anyone know if this is correct. The pool at zazen whilst does not have a view of sea, it appears to be more private.

Can anyone offer me some guidance or recommend any other accommodation in this quality.

Thanks

Stayed at Hansar 2x; never at zazen. But I think you may be asking about the bophut area? We liked it a lot. Ventured away a few times during our stays, but it is nice and quiet, assuming you are not looking for party central. Market on street on Fridays is fun. Cheers.

I've stayed at Hansar Samui once - brilliant place! I've heard good things about Zazen too, but I'd definitely recommend Hansar.

Hansar is closer to the bars and restaurants, only a short walk, Zazen is a longer walk along the beach (about 10-15 minutes), but would have a more private pool, although Hansar is pretty spectacular. Bearing in mind that February is still high season, no pool area will be particularly quiet. Beach is ok, but sand is gritty compared to other white sand beaches on Samui. We were in Bophut last month for the Friday markets, which are very busy, but love the vibe of Bophut with it's boutique style appeal. Some nice beach bars including Coco Tams which has big cushions to slouch on and a good choice of restaurants, a lot of European types but also more local (Friendly Frog always good for Thai).

The other area you could look at is Choeng Mon Beach which has a beautiful crescent shaped beach, a quieter area with a small choice of restaurants and bars.
